The #LifeAtJulie series is still underway and this month, it’s our Marketing Manager’s turn. Her name is Caroline Baron. You might already know her but in case you don’t, she is about to reveal all about herself. And if you do know her, well, there is more for you to know. By the way, she is also our Chief Sewing Officer!

1. Hi Caroline, can you tell us a bit more about your background?
Hello, I grew up in Brittany (called Bretagne in French), a historical city in the northwest of France, and also the most beautiful city in the world. I lived there until I finished College preparatory classes, the I went to Business School in Marseilles on the south coast. During my gap year, I worked at Talend, a Data Integration Software company. That is how I entered the world of digital companies and I really liked the dynamism of the ecosystem, so I stayed in it! I worked at Augure (Launchmetrics today), an influencer marketing software company, before joining Julie Desk almost a year ago.
2. How did you end up at Julie desk?
Last year, I was looking for new challenges to take on and, when I discovered Julie Desk, I found the product really interesting. They were looking for a Marketing Manager so I applied! I identified well with the company and founders’ values and I was hired. So here I am!
3. What’s your role at Julie Desk? Can you describe a typical day?
I am in charge of Marketing and Communication. My role is mainly to generate “leads” as we say in the business. On a broader note, my objective is for all potential users to hear about Julie and want to test the solution!
The benefit of working in a startup company is that there are many areas to dive into. You need to be versatile and multi-skilled. So, there isn’t really a typical day: I juggle between paid campaigns, referencing, content creating, social media, events, etc.
4. Any advice for people willing to do what you do?
I would say they need to be curious and not be afraid to get their hands dirty. In small structures, it’s important to show real autonomy and not wait to be told what to do; I learned a lot on my own, going to look for the information anywhere I could find it (I also got a lot of things wrong but that also helps you learn).
5. What is the main challenge you face (or have faced) while working at Julie Desk?
My main challenge: finding prospects! Julie Desk is a product of great value – who wouldn’t want to save up to 1 hour a day? 😉 – but, just like any innovation, we must evangelize the market. It is a big challenge, but it is fascinating.
6. Where do you see Julie Desk in 5 years?
I see her as the greatest Artificial Intelligence priestess, working together with many intelligent agents to help us optimize our time by offloading us of all the repetitive and time-consuming tasks that affect our morale: no more burn-out, bore-out or brown-out, only happy people who focus on what really motivates them!! Sounds lovely, doesn’t it? 🙂
7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hmm, my creations would be sold out on worldwide fashion week podiums, I would be discussing with Queen B on the choreographies for her next world tour – all dates would have been scheduled by Julie -, I would have finally succeeded in growing my lemon tree and enjoying some delicious lemonade on my terrasse surrounded by bamboo trees, I would be shooting portraits all over the world because, yes, I would have already returned from my world tour or I would be preparing it. I still hesitate on that one….

Ringlets, Pirouette, Chocolate.
9. Anything about you that people might not know and you’d like to share?
You already know enough about me.
10. What is the first thing you do in the morning? Any routine?
I would love to say that I wake up at 5.30 am every morning, have a vitamin-rich juice, do some yoga, some running or any other physical activity, write or read a few pages… but, reality is, I’ve been attempting morning routines for years now and I just cannot seem to go commit. The only thing I do every morning is have a good breakfast!
11. Your favorite App?
I spend hours on Pinterest ( sewing, DIYs).
12. Favorite meal?
As long as there is cheese, I’m a happy girl!
13. Favorite quote?
“What would Beyoncé do?”
14. Who inspires you the most?
I don’t really have a role model but I’m inspired by optimistic and passionate people!
15. Your best memory at Julie Desk?
I have a good memory of a team building outing with Marins d’Eau Douce (a boat renting service). Every first Thursday of the month is team building night!
