Welcome to a new episode of our #LifeAtJulie series. Meet Pierre-Louis Maurel, Sales Manager at Julie Desk. He will outline all his favorite things and maybe share a thing or two about being a true closer, especially since he is also our very own Chief Soccer Officer
In case you missed episode 1-3, you can still see them 😉
1. Hi Pierre-Louis, can you tell us a bit more about your background?
I grew up in Lyon where I studied Finance in a business school. I had the chance to travel, meet amazing people and share awesome moments. But I will always be in love with my hometown, its local gastronomy and I am a true supporter of Olympique Lyonnais.
2. How did you end up at Julie Desk?
My previous experiences in big corporate companies have led me to want to work in a more human-centered and gratifying environment. And, I find I am developing an entrepreneurial mindset at Julie Desk.
3. Can you tell us about your role and a typical day at Julie Desk?
Basically, I manage all the UK and French sales pipeline. You have to be flexible as the job is changing constantly. There is no set routine for me but being in contact with potential customers is essential almost everyday.
4. Any advice for people willing to do what you do?
Don’t be afraid to fail and to change for the better.
5. What is the main challenge you face (or have faced) while working at Julie Desk?
Julie evolves every day and the team grows fast. I was the first employee (to be honest, I was doing an internship at the time) and it’s hard to let go some of the tasks I used to do. But it’s also a positive sign as we are structuring Julie Desk 😉
6. Where do you see Julie Desk in 5 years?
Julie will be the new trendy OS and it will free everyone from the basic tasks that take long: a better version of the Scarlett Johansson we discovered in the movie “Her”. And Julie Desk will grow to reach his thousandth employee.
7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Honestly?! I would love to know
8. Three words to describe you?
Persuasive, indecisive and dreamer
9. Anything about you that people might not know and you’d like to share?
During the last Julie Desk’s annual weekend, I broke my ribs while slacklining. First time in my life that I broke anything and because I don’t like doing things halfway, I broke 5 ribs altogether. It was a pretty bad experience.
10. What is the first thing you do in the morning? Any routine?
I am not a morning person. Everything is timed and optimized in a way that allows me to sleep longer.
11. Your favorite App?
Lydia. The simplest and most effective way to reimburse your friends.
12. Favorite meal?
A tartare steak. Recently, I discovered a nice place: Gaston, 11 Rue Brochant, 75 017 Paris
13. Favorite quote?
“Jump Off the Cliff and Build Your Wings on the Way Down” – Ray Bradbury
14. Who inspires you the most?
It must stay between us… I would say Guillaume, Julien and Nicolas (the co-founders). They have this ability to transform ideas into reality faster than anyone. When you want to do something at the office, you have to do it no matter how.
15. Your best memory at Julie Desk?
The first client I closed. And more generally, anytime I meet someone in my everyday life and they already know Julie. She is starting to be famous 😉
Thank you, Pierre-Louis for this insight into your personality. He is a real closer, isn’t he?
